Where to see animals in Paris and Ile-de-France?

Kids’ favorite outing

If the weather is good, head for the zoos. There are two in Paris: the Parc Zoologique de Paris (formerly Zoo de Vincennes) in the 12th arrondissement and the menagerie of the Jardin des Plantes, in the 5th. On Saturdays or Sundays, head to the Ferme de Paris, ideal for the little ones (and it’s free). The dairy donkey farm in the 94 is a very nice place with children. For those who live in the east of Paris, the Zoo du Bois d’Attilly will delight the youngest. In rainy weather or if it’s chilly, aquariums are a great idea for a family outing on weekends, Wednesdays or during school holidays.

It is an outing appreciated by parents but especially by children. A walk that allows them to get some fresh air, stretch their legs and have fun. Zoos and menageries also have an educational and pedagogical role : to discover animals, learn to observe them, respect them and learn more about their way of life, their diet, their habitat, their habits… Zoological parks have another even more important function: to conserve animal species and protect them, to optimize the reproduction of animals… Many species have been saved thanks to the action of zoos.

Meeting the farm animals, reconnecting with nature and getting away from our urban environment for a bit… This is what these farms located near Paris allow. Some offer activities, offer children the opportunity to approach the animals, to attend the feeding or to participate in a workshop, such as bread making for example. Admission to some farms is free. This is the case of the Paris farm.
