In Paris, the fact that monuments are free depends mainly on the age of the visitors and the day of the visit.
Free admission is also valid in the evening because Some Parisian monuments are open at night.
There are free monuments for young people under 26 years old (if they are citizens of the European Union). This is the case, for example, of the Arc de Triomphe or the Conciergerie. Unfortunately, this is not the case with the Eiffel Tower!
There are also free monuments every 1st Sunday of each month.
Finally, somerare monuments are free for everyone all year round.
1- Free monuments for young people
All young people under the age of 18 (regardless of their nationality) and those under 26 years of age who are nationals of the U.S. E. (European Union) are free of charge for the following Parisian monuments:
- The Conciergerie (1st): the revolutionary prison
- The Sainte Chapelle (1st): the jewel of Gothic art
- The Towers of Notre-Dame (4th): a majestic view of the Ile de la Cité and the heart of Paris – Closed since the fire
- The Pantheon (5th): a place steeped in history, a view of all of Paris
- The Arc de Triomphe (8th): its exceptional view of Paris
Free travel applies every day, with no time restrictions. Proof of identity is required.
2- Free monuments for all, every day
They are places of worship, but they are two emblematic monuments of Paris. Let’s not forget the 139 churches and chapels, some of which are worth a stop such as the Saint-Paul-Saint-Louis church (in the 4th), the Saint-Eustache church (in the 1st, next to the Forum des Halles), the Saint-Roch church (in the 1st) or the Saint-Germain des Prés church (in the 6th) to name but a few.
- Notre-Dame de Paris (Paris 4th) – Closed since the fire
- The Basilica of the Sacred Heart (Paris 18th)
3- The monuments free on the 1st Sunday of the month
- The Pantheon (January to March and November to December)
- The towers of Notre-Dame (the guided tour of Notre-Dame is also free; tip recommended) – Closed since the fire
