Art and confinement
When museums tell the history of art to children

Why not visit a museum with your family from your sofa? This is possible thanks to the action of museums that do not forget children and offer videos to help them discover a work of art, or part of their collection. When art and confinement go hand in hand!

“LE PETIT LOUVRE” — FOR 6 – 10 YEAR OLDS

Every Wednesday, the Louvre Museum tells beautiful stories. These are short animated videos that are about 4 minutes long. Intended for children from 6 years old, they show the richness of the museum and its works. You learn a lot of things and it’s really well done.
The topics are varied:

  • the epic of the Regent, on the largest diamond in the world
  • the expedition to Egypt on Bonaparte’s campaigns
  • the theft of the Mona Lisa
  • The Stone Lady on a Cretan statue dating back 2600 years
  • etc…

“BAAM! ART IN SPINACH” — FOR EVERYONE FROM 9 YEARS OLD

“Baam! art in spinach”, we love not only the title, but also everything in this program offered by France TV. Playful and very intelligent, Baam! presents in 5 minutes a major painting of the history of art. He links it to its historical context and to an artistic movement. It’s very lively and very documented. We advise adults to watch too, just to shine at your next dinners (post-confinement!)
The topics covered are very varied:

  • Leonardo da Vinci’s Last Supper
  • Manet and his painting “The Balcony”
  • the Sistine Madonna by Rafaello Sanzio
  • the portraits of Elisabeth Vigée Le Brun
  • The Pioneers of Grant Wood
  • etc…
