Discovering Pop Art at the Fondation Louis Vuitton
An exhibition that makes Pop, Wow, Bang, BoooM!
- “Pop Forever” is a unique exhibition that invites us into the colorful and transgressive world of Pop Art at the Fondation Louis Vuitton, in the heart of the Bois de Boulogne
- On four levels and with more than 150 works and installations, you can discover the entire universe of this vast artistic movement born in the 1960s
- We learn that Pop Art has been nourished by the codes of popular culture from all over the world such as comics, advertising, but also cinema, fashion, and consumer products
- Between the acidic colors that explode, the coke, the chewing gum or the “Campbell’s soup”, the strong images of the tabloid press confront us with the excesses of the past twentieth century and our twenty-first century
Throughout the course …
- Tom Wesselmann’s cut-out panels mingle with Andy Warhol’s iconic silkscreen works, Roy Lichtenstein’s passionate and stereotypical bubbles and kisses, but also the polka dots of the extravagant Yayoi Kusama, Jeff Koons’ sculptures or Ai Weiwei’s motifs!
- Like a transgressive snapshot, “Pop Forever” is a journey through the kitschy decades where pop married with art
- In the end, and with works by Tomokazu Matsuyama where we recognize Manga figures, this fascinating exhibition reveals that Pop Art is still very much alive!
- Ideal with teenagers and pre-teens, this exhibition will also interest the youngest
FAMILY ACTIVITIES AROUND THE EXHIBITION …
- 6-24 months – “Giant babies” baby journey – Gently and through the senses, the Foundation welcomes babies and their parents at the opening, all in relaxation and awakening – (Duration 45 min)
- 3-5 years old – Storytelling trail “Le Club Pop” – discovering the works with a mediator – (duration 1h)
- 6-10 years old – “Big & Pop for kids” workshop – After going through the exhibition, in the workshop, we play together with scales and silhouettes to create a Pop composition (duration 2h30)
- From 7 years old – Family tour “In praise of everyday life” – to discover the works with a cultural mediator, a fun visit that involves the body
- 11 – 14 years old – Big & Pop for teens workshop In the workshop, in teams, the teenagers play with scales and silhouettes to compose a large painting in space using cut-out panels like Wesselmann
