An exciting and very educational expedition
- “Disappeared Worlds” is a great educational discovery to make with the family and accessible to all
- Thanks to this technology and a nice and humorous narration, the message of this experience will undoubtedly touch the youngest
- Virtual reality allows us to travel through the most ancient eras and to approach the world in its diversity
- By evoking the upheavals of the earth, we address the fragility of the human being, the plant and animal world
Once upon a time, 3.5 million years ago…
- It is in the geology gallery of the Jardin des Plantes that this new immersive experience of 2000 m2 is installed
- We discover the world as it was 3.5 million years ago to the present day thanks to virtual reality (VR)
- Equipped with our helmets, we follow the researcher Charlie and Darwin her robot, two avatars very knowledgeable on the subject and from the year 2223
- You experience strange sensations when you cross these paleo-landscapes as the specialists call them
- Walking in the desert, you perch on the canopy of a tropical forest, you step over a ground from 314 million years ago that is teeming with strange critters…
- We cross paths with grazing dinosaurs, marine reptiles or giant centipedes
- Thanks to this technology, the Museum’s scientists were able to reproduce the results of their discoveries in images and sound with great humour
- The expedition ends in 2023 in the middle of giraffes, in our current world
- But our fellow travelers who come from 2223 are very surprised to see them because where they come from, there are no more …
- And to think that the Jardin des Plantes was under the sea 120 million years ago!
