What to do in the Notre-Dame district with your family?

The 1st and 4th arrondissements of Paris

It is the oldest district in Paris. The Île de la Cité was formerly called Lutetia. Its main attraction is of course the Notre-Dame-de-Paris cathedral (closed following the fire in April 2019). In this district, you can also admire the Pont Neuf which is the oldest bridge in Paris. Its construction began at the end of the sixteenth century. It is the 1st stone bridge to cross the Seine. This district is also home to the Palais de Justice, the mythical former headquarters of the judicial police, 36 quai des Orfèvres opposite the left bank of the Seine, the clock tower of the courthouse, the Conciergerie, the Saint-Chapelle or the Hôtel Dieu created in 551 (the only hospital in Paris until the Renaissance). There is also a flower market open on Sundays. With children, you can visit the Archaeological Crypt (in front of the Notre-Dame Cathedral)
