- DATE: until August 31, 2020
- PLACE: Musée de l’Homme (Paris 16th)
"Je mange donc je suis", l’expo au goût du jour !
- An exhibition on food to allow the general public to discover the biological (body and food), cultural (edible cultures) and ecological (consuming nature) aspects by walking through 3 rooms.
- How does the act of eating shape our identities through cultural practices, rituals, and prohibitions?
- What role has diet played in our evolution? What were prehistoric foods?
- Are there “gendered” foods? What are the food inequalities between men and women?
- What are the environmental impacts of producing resources to feed the world of today and tomorrow?
- The visit alternates between current themes (meat, GMOs, etc.) and others that are more surprising (microbiology, culinary art, etc.).
- The scenography is sober and sometimes offbeat. We suggest that you talk by phone with the fictitious cow, Doctor Meuh, about the different diets, to sit at a Japanese table or at a desk for lunch or finally to watch an excerpt from The Wing or the Thigh…
