The organization of this exceptional event required a reorganization of walking, cycling and two-wheeled travel and traffic in Paris and Île-de-France. Depending on the day, the events and the districts, several defined perimeters modify access to certain areas of the capital a little.
The Games Pass, a mandatory digital pass to travel in certain areas • FREE
To obtain the precious sesame, you must go to the official PASS JEUX platform. Issued by the Prefecture of Police, it is a digital pass (QR code)
2 zones have been established: the grey perimeter and the red perimeter. As the information changes over the days, we advise you to visit the Games Pass website before going
When do you need a Games Pass?
- To access the security perimeters around the Opening Ceremony unless you already have a ticket to attend the ceremony
- competition venues
- for the para-cycling events in Seine-Saint-Denis
You are on foot, by bike, by cargo bike, by scooter, you only need a pass
- To access the grey perimeter around the opening ceremony from 18 to 26 July inclusive
- From 1 p.m., the grey perimeter will be extended as well as the red perimeter and no more vehicles will be able to access the latter, except for emergency and accredited vehicles
You are on 2 wheels, by car, by taxi, by VTC
- To access the grey perimeter around the opening ceremony from 18 to 26 July until 1 pm and only if you have an exemption. Verify that you are an authorized person.
- As a reminder : the circulation of motor 🚘 🛵 🏍 vehicles is prohibited in the grey and red perimeters unless you are an authorised person.
How to get around Paris in secure areas?
To be differentiated : pedestrians, bicycles and motorized vehicles
The Paris 2024 organising scope:
This perimeter designates the competition and ceremony venues. The assembly and dismantling phases of these areas, from March to October 2024, require the closure of some metro stations or the non-service of trams.
- Concorde zone : assembly from March 2024
- Trocadéro, Eiffel, Champ-de-Mars area : assembly from March 2024
- Grand Palais area, Alexandre III bridge, Invalides : assembly from mid-April 2024
- Opening ceremony of the Olympic Games : assembly on the lower quays from the beginning of June 2024; Installation on the decks from the beginning of July 2024.

- Line 1: “Champs-Elysées – Clémenceau” station, from July 1 to September 21, 2024. “Concorde” and “Tuileries”, from June 17 to September 21, 2024
- Line 8: “Concorde” station, from June 17 to September 21, 2024

- Line 13: “Champs-Elysées – Clémenceau” station, from 1 July to 21 September 2024

“The SILT perimeter” (Internal Security and Fight against Terrorism)
Perimeter protection allows only people with tickets or accredited. Deployed at venues during the competition
⛔️ “The red perimeter”: motorized traffic prohibited
Immediate surroundings of competition venues, marathon courses, cycling competitions, as well as along the Seine before and during the opening ceremony
The red perimeter is activated each day of the competition, two and a half hours before the start of the first event, and deactivated one hour after the end of the last event. Pedestrians and cyclists are allowed to circulate without restriction.
“The blue perimeter”: regulated motorized traffic
The blue perimeter extends beyond the red perimeter. It is activated each day of competition, two and a half hours before the start of the first event, and deactivated one hour after the end of the last event. Pedestrians and cyclists are allowed to circulate without restriction.
The areas concerned by the red, blue and security perimeters (SILT) are as follows:
- Trocadero, Eiffel Tower, Champ-de-Mars, Invalides, Grand Palais, Alexandre III Bridge, Concorde
- Arena Bercy
- Roland-Garros, Parc des Princes
- Arena Porte de Versailles
- Arena La Chapelle
- Hauts-de-Seine Department (92): Paris La Défense Arena, Stade Yves-du-Manoir in Colombes…
- Department of Seine-Saint-Denis (93): Stade de France, Aquatic Centre, Le Bourget…

⚠️ Which lines will be closed or to be avoided?

Access according to the conditions of the schedules and security perimeters of course!
- TO PREFER : Paris 2024 Pass – (1 to 7 days, online purchase on the Ile-de-France Mobilité website or Paris 2024 Public Transport app) – €16 /day – unlimited journeys in all zones – from July 20 to September 8, 2024 included –
- Access to all competition venues and fan zones in Île-de-France, Orly (including Orlyval) and Roissy-Charles de Gaulle airports, tourist attractions in the Region
- ALL THE DETAILS ON THE PARIS 2024 PASS
- The t+ bus and metro ticket is €4 each (from July 20 to September 8)
- Navigo Liberté + pass (free registration on the Ile-de-France Mobilité website) – Ticket at €1.73 (RER in Paris, metro, bus and tram) – Single payment just have to register and each trip will be debited the following month –
- During the same day, you can be charged up to €8.65 maximum (price of the navigo day 2 zones). Beyond that, your rides are free.
- Pass navigo subscription – No change for annual or monthly Navigo pass subscriptions
- Navigo pass week – 70€ (instead of the usual 30,75€) – Please note that this ticket will be completely suspended from July 20 to September 8.
Additional transport to connect the competition venues
10 free shuttle lines, accessible to all and without reservation for the 6 most remote sites
Frequency : from 2h30 before the start of the competition, then throughout the event and finally until 2 hours after the competition.
- Le Golf national de Guyancourt (78, Yvelines)- – shuttles from:
- Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines (RER C, lines N and U)
- Massy-Palaiseau (RER B and C)
- The Palace of Versailles (78, Yvelines)– (equestrian sport pentathlon)- shuttles from the stations of:
- Versailles Rive-Droite (line L),
- Versailles Chantiers Rive-Gauche (RER C)
- Versailles Chantiers (RER C and lines N and U)
- The hill of Elancourt (78, Yvelines) – mountain bike events – shuttle from the train station of: Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines (RER C, lines N and U)
- Roland-Garros – (Paris 16th) – shuttle from Porte Dauphine (metro line 2, RER C and tram T3b)
- The Parc des Princes – shuttle only 3 days: 27, 28 and 30 July for the football events – additional shuttle to Charles-de-Gaulle Étoile (metro lines 1, 2, 6 and RER A)
- Nautical Stadium of Vaires-sur-Marne (77, Seine-et-Marne) – shuttles from the stations of:
- Bussy-Saint-Georges (RER A to Bassin eaux calmes)
- Chelles-Gournay (RER E to Eaux calmes et eaux vives)
Cycling around Paris
Vélib’: the bikes of the metropolis of Paris:
- 3,000 additional Vélib’ in the capital of France and 10,000 more parking spaces.
- In total, there are no less than 22,000 Vélib’s that you can rent. 60 km more bike lanes in the heart of Paris! The Ile de France region now has more than 3,700 km of cycle paths
- All the information can be found on the downloadable Vélib’ app : parking and rental stations and the map of cycle lanes on the City of Paris website

- Self-service e-bikes: Lime, Dott and Tier
- All operators have an app and a booking platform and offer packages adjusted for the period of the Games
Some of the paths of the Olympic cycling network:
- From the Bercy Arena – Concorde Stadium to the Grand Palais
- From the Parc des Princes – Trocadéro to the Eiffel Tower stadium
- From the Stade de France and the Chapelle Arena (although this track is currently under threat)
- From the Nautical Stadium of Vaires-sur-Marne to the Bercy Arena
The good news is that these tracks will be maintained after the Games!
