The Gates of Hell, in the heart of the sculpture garden, is Rodin’s most frightening work. Over six meters high, the condemned and damned of the human species fall into Hell under the eye of the Thinker. The countless characters represented (more than 200) nourish the people of shadows who gave rise to all the artist’s work.
The Musée Rodin invites you to discover the collections from the angle of dread and fear, the real central themes of this evening, and a counterpoint to the Halloween party.
Welcomed around the Gates of Hell, visitors will discover it as they have never seen it before. Lighting, dancers, actors and sound creation will create an eerie atmosphere that is only the beginning of their journey through the garden and the collections. The crossing of the wood of torture and the discovery of the ogre Ugolino devouring his children will contribute to chilling the spine before discovering the ghosts of the museum. Antony Gormley’s characters featured in the Critical Mass exhibition will also contribute to this frightening climate.
A dark, very dark evening to live with friends to scare each other in an unprecedented context.
