Lucrèce Borgia : un grand classique de Victor Hugo
- Be careful, all the plays of the Comédie Française are a great success (deserved, in our opinion!). We therefore advise you to book your seats as soon as possible. If unfortunately it is sold out, you should know that often the pieces are revived the following season.
- For his third staging at the Comédie-Française, member Denis Podalydès returns to the Romantic century with one of Victor Hugo’s masterpieces.
- The exhibition scene opens with a gondola where a group of scruffy men, grotesque masks on their faces, tell the story of the dastardly Borgia family.
- They recall how the two brothers Caesar and John killed each other for the love of their sister Lucretia: “The cross-dressing, the mask come both from the play and from the desire to make Lucretia less a dramatic heroine than an allegory of the pariah.”
