Enchantment and magic in the castle and gardens
It’s even more beautiful in real life!

The enchanting world of fairy tales

Vaux-le-Vicomte celebrates the 400th anniversary of the birth of Jean de La Fontaine. The fables are illustrated in different rooms of the castle:

  • In the Great Square Room: the fable of the Fox and the Squirrel is staged by animated automatons
  • In the Chamber of the Muses: the fable of the Deer reflecting himself in the water
  • In the game room: the fable of the Cicada and the antand Canasuc sugar-hungry decorations
  • In the Antechamber of Hercules: the fable of the garden-loving Bear symbolized by a giant animated bear from the Michel Taillis house
  • In the King’s Cabinet: The Fable of the Hare and the Tortoise
  • In the buffet room: a magnificent buffet has been set up and invites all the animals from La Fontaine’s fables to its table
  • In the basement in the people’s room: the fable The Swan and the Cook all in pink cake from Reims, work of the Fossier house
  • In the kitchens: the fable The Raven and the Fox all in chocolate
