The Musée d'Orsay in Paris

The Musée d’Orsay, a must-see museum in Paris

  • The Musée d’Orsay, located in the former Gare d’Orsay, is a very beautiful space. The architecture and scenography of the museum alone justifies its visit!
  • It presents painting and sculpture from the mid-nineteenth century to the First World War.
  • It is especially the collection of Impressionist paintings that is absolutely extraordinary.
  • It is impossible to list all the artists who are exhibited there : Bonnard, Cézanne, Courbet, van Gogh, the Douanier Rousseau, Manet, Monet, Morisot… to name but a few.

Night

  • Reduced rate, at night every Thursday evening from 7pm

Our tips for the visit

  • The Musée d’Orsay is a victim of its own success. There are always people at the entrance. It’s not a problem once in the museum because it’s very big. However, we strongly advise you to buy your tickets online before your visit.
  • The Musée d’Orsay is a vast museum, and it can be tiring to visit. We advise you to plan to take a lunch or snack break there. Plan to visit at staggered times to avoid the crowds.
  • The museum’s website suggests a 1h30 online “first visit” route.
