A free family event
Not far from the Montparnasse Tower, for a weekend, the Musée de La Poste is organising two free family days . It’s the spring edition of its Family Weekend! Parents and children will be welcomed to discover the museum’s collections thanks to a programme specially designed for families!
Storytelling tours, literature workshops, philosophy workshops… at the heart of the exhibition are planned in the program. Two beautiful days in this place that traces the history of the post office from the Middle Ages to the present day. A vast playground for children and parents where the image of stamps always makes you dream
The programme of the family weekend at the Musée de La Poste
Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 April 2024
- Saturday : 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. – for 3 – 5 year olds: “Storytelling tour, POSTILLION MISSION” : Puss in Boots must transmit a very important letter to the king who lives in the port of Le Havre, by order of his master, the Marquis of Carabas. Then suddenly… Puss in Boots realizes that he has lost the postilion he desperately needs to find his way! But where could he have gone? While conducting the investigation with Puss in Boots, the children walk through the permanent exhibition in order to save Puss in Boots from a terrible punishment!
- Saturday: 2 pm to 5 pm – all audiences – “ATELIER MAIL ART ET ORIGAMI” Continuous workshop, led by a professional. This workshop allows you to learn how to make highly personalized postcards, with different creative techniques, including origami.
- Saturday : 2:30 pm to 4 pm – from 7 years old: “Family visit in the permanent collections”
- Sunday : 11:15 am to 12:15 pm- for 4 – 6 year olds: “Storytelling tour, WHEN I GROW UP, I WILL BE A POSTMAN” Storytelling tour of the museum’s collections in the guise of a puppet led by a professional storyteller.
- Sunday: 2 pm to 5 pm – all audiences – “ATELIER MAIL ART ET ORIGAMI” Continuous workshop, led by a professional. This workshop allows you to learn how to make highly personalized postcards, with different creative techniques, including origami.
- Sunday: 2:30pm-4pm – from 4 years old : SEEDS OF PHILOSOPHERS WORKSHOP. How far can you travel? This is the question that the children will try to answer with a philosophical approach . Le Musée de La Poste propose aux enfants de s’amuser en s’initiant à la philosophie. C’est en découvrant les collections du musée liées à la thématique de l’aventure, du voyage et du transport accompagnés d’un médiateur, spécialement formé à l’animation d’ateliers philosophiques, que les enfants pourront approfondir leurs capacités d’observation, d’analyse et de réflexion.
The Musée de La Poste: unique and surprising collections and exhibitions
- The Musée de La Poste was inaugurated in 1946, first in the Hôtel Praslin (Paris 6th), before moving to its current address on Boulevard de Vaugirard (Paris 15th) in 1973.
- The Museum was awarded the Contemporary Architecture Label after the complete renovation of its building and museography, and for its original architecture from the 70s
- It is a place for the presentation, conservation and dissemination of postal heritage
- It focuses on writing, history and culture and preserves unsuspected collections
- There are more than a million philatelic pieces, stamps from the French Southern and Antarctic Territories, as well as 37,000 works illustrating the history of La Poste from the Middle Ages to the present day
